Discover the beauty and joy of a custom, handwoven piece tailored to your personal vision

These are deeply personal woven tapestries created in response to story, place, memory, or intention. Each piece begins with what you share, a place that mattered, a relationship, a transition, or a moment worth honoring, and is shaped with care to hold that meaning in form.

How to Commission a Personal Piece?

The tapestry becomes a quiet marker: something that carries memory, presence, and intention into the space it inhabits. Through texture, color, and design, each work is created through a relational process and a sense of devotion to what the piece is meant to carry, woven as a tangible reflection of both what has shaped you and what inspires you.

Step 1

Opening the Conversation

The process begins with a commission request. You’re welcome to arrive with a fully formed idea, clear vision, story, a place you love, or simply a sense of what you hope the piece will hold. You only need to share what feels natural. All levels of engagement are welcome.

Step 2

Discovery and Intention

From there, we’ll meet for a discovery call. This is a space to explore the intention behind the piece and how it might take shape. We’ll talk through placement, scale, color, materials, and any design elements that feel meaningful or aligned. We can even explore including personal items in the work, such as seashells, or stones.

Step 3

Design Direction

From this conversation, I prepare a design proposal to ground the work, often including a hand-drawn sketch and material direction that allows us to arrive at a shared sense of clarity before weaving begins.

Step 4

Weaving

Once the design is approved, the weaving process begins. This is where the piece starts to unfold through texture, color, and form, guided by the intention we’ve established together.

Step 5

Witnessing the Work

Throughout the weaving, I’ll share periodic progress images and updates so you can witness the tapestry taking shape. There’s room for thoughtful feedback along the way, while allowing the work to develop naturally.

Step 6

Completion & Handoff

When the piece is complete, I’ll share final images for approval, then carefully package and ship it to its new home.

EACH Piece has a life of its own

Because each piece is woven by hand, the work carries the natural character and quiet irregularities of the process; textured, nuanced, and alive. Allowing the tapestry to unfold with a degree of trust and creative freedom is part of what gives the work its depth and presence.

Each commission is created slowly and with care. Availability is limited, and timelines vary depending on scale and current projects.

“Working with Rebecca was far easier than I expected, not knowing what to expect as I had never asked to have a piece of artwork commissioned.

The words flowed easily as I thought about having Rebecca create a weaving that would remind my husband and me of a very special place we had visited for some special getaway weekends.

I sent photos of the place we had in mind, and before too long, after deciding on the size of the weaving, sketches were emailed to me, along with the proposed color palette and yarn selections.

I was in tears when the first photos came through of the partially finished weaving, knowing that it was going to be even more beautiful than I ever expected.

She captured the scene perfectly, and we will forever enjoy it hanging over the fireplace in our main living area.

We will forever enjoy this piece hanging over the fireplace in our main living space, as a reminder of a place and time that means so much to us.”

"I knew I wanted a woven piece above the stairwell in our VT home. I saw some of Rebecca's other works where she had a river woven in so it was natural to ask if she would do the Mad River. I sent several photos of the river for inspiration and she nailed it!  I also loved being able to participate in selecting the yarns both for color and texture. I was overwhelmed emotionally by her piece because she did such a great job incorporating the feel of the Mad River. The piece is hung prominently in our home for everyone to enjoy and our friends and guests always comment on the piece. It will be an heirloom to pass on."

"This stunning one-of-a-kind handwoven wall art fiber sculpture arrived carefully packaged! It is by far the most unique piece of art I’ve ever had in our home and feel privileged to be able to share it with family and friends! Rebecca worked with me to create this masterpiece to go with a guest bedroom’s color & decor. She came through with the perfect design and used lovely muted soft colors along with her amazing textured yarns and fibers! It is hard to find pristine quality and workmanship like this! And the turn around time was quick. Rebecca is also a joy to work with and wanted to make sure I was happy with her work throughout the process! Can’t thank you enough!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does the commission process take?

Production time is typically 4–6 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the piece. I’m often booked 3–6 months in advance, so beginning the conversation early and reserving a commission slot is always encouraged. Lead times are discussed upfront so expectations feel clear and grounded.

How involved do I need to be in the process?

You can be as involved as you’d like. Some clients prefer to offer a color palette or a few guiding ideas and give me full creative freedom. Others enjoy sharing inspiration images, stories, and offering feedback throughout the process. Both approaches- and everything in between- are welcome.

What if I don’t know exactly what I want yet?

That’s completely okay. During our conversations, I’ll help you get clear on what the piece is meant to hold. Whether that’s a feeling, intention, or response to a place or moment. From there, I’ll guide the process into more concrete elements like color, form, and overall direction.

How is pricing structured?

For intentional commissions, I offer flat-rate pricing by size range, allowing the focus to remain on the meaning, materials, and care involved rather than individual details. Works over approximately 6 feet are priced by scale. A 50% deposit reserves your commission slot and begins the design process, with the remaining balance due once the piece is completed and approved.

Do you work with interior designers or architects?

Yes. I’m happy to work primarily with the designer, directly with the client, or through a collaborative combination of both. If a project is primarily design- or space-led, I may suggest exploring my Architectural Commissions, which are structured specifically for that context.

Can meaningful materials or objects be included?

I love exploring ways to incorporate personal or meaningful elements when appropriate, such as seashells, fabric, stones, or even text, as part of the design. These possibilities are discussed during the early stages of the process.

Do you replicate past pieces?

Past work can be a helpful reference for understanding what resonates with you. However, each tapestry is woven by hand and allowed to unfold organically, which means no two pieces are ever the same. Creative freedom is an essential part of the process and what allows each work to feel truly personal.

What if I’m unsure which commission path fits?

If you’re not sure, simply choose the path that feels closest. Many projects live somewhere in between, and we can always refine or shift the approach once we begin the conversation.
