INTENTIONAL AND ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSIONS

INTENTIONAL AND ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSIONS

TWO PATHS TO COMMISSION A CUSTOM TAPESTRY

Over time, two distinct commission paths have naturally emerged in my practice.
Both are rooted in care, and craftsmanship and material intelligence—but they begin from different places.

Some commissions start with story, memory, or personal meaning.
Others begin with space, architecture, and design context.

Naming these paths brings clarity and allows each project to be met in the way it asks to be held.

Intentional Commissions

Woven works shaped by story, place, and meaning

Intentional commissions are deeply personal woven tapestries created in response to a story, relationship, place, or transition in your life.

You may be commissioning a piece for your home, a shared space, or as a way of honoring something that has shaped you. Many works are developed in reflection of a meaningful landscape, such as the surrounding environment of a home, or a place that holds personal significance, translated through form, color, and material.

Each piece begins with what you share: a place that mattered, a relationship, a moment worth honoring, or maybe just a feeling to call into your home and life. From there, the process unfolds through conversation, reflection, and an intuitive approach. Together, we explore what the piece is meant to hold, and how that intention can be expressed through texture, color, and design.

The finished tapestry becomes a quiet marker, one that brings memory, presence, and intention into the space it inhabits.

This path is well suited for:

  • Pieces rooted in personal narrative or lived experience
  • Clients seeking a collaborative, meaning-centered process
  • Works created for private residences or intimate settings

Architectural Commissions

Design-led woven works for interior and public spaces

Architectural commissions are custom woven works developed in response to space, scale, and environment. These projects are design-led, shaped by architectural context rather than personal narrative.

Often created in collaboration with interior designers, architects, or art consultants, these pieces are informed by proportion, material harmony, light, and movement within a space. The focus is on how the work lives within its surroundings, anchoring, softening, or activating the environment through texture and form.

While meaning is still present, it emerges through restraint, material intelligence, and spatial dialogue rather than led by symbolism. These works are designed to feel site-specific and integrated, as though they naturally belong where they are placed.

This path is well suited for:

  • Commercial, hospitality, or public-facing spaces
  • Design-driven residential projects
  • Clients seeking clarity, scale, and architectural cohesion

Choosing the Path That Fits

Some clients arrive knowing immediately which path they’re drawn to.
Others feel somewhere in between, and that’s welcome too.

Part of my role is helping you discern which approach best supports your space, intention, and timeline. Both commission paths are held with the same level of care and devotion to craft--they simply begin from different places.

If you’re curious to explore a commission, you can learn more about the process or share a bit about your project through the commission inquiry form.

I look forward to connecting and bringing your vision to life.
